1. Write letters of gratitude
Writing letters of gratitude is something I am working to implement in my daily morning routine. On days like today where I have extra time to think it definitely helps to raise not only your spirit, but also the spirits of those who surround you. I find its difficult for me to be upset about anything after I write a letter or two of gratitude in the morning. It helps get my day started off on the right foot, and I also look forward to making that person’s day when they receive it.
2. Read
I love days like these, do you know why? I ran track in college, and on meet days where the weather was the worst I would perform the best–because I would have mental toughness. Conditions are skin deep. You have the power to allow your outer world to affect your inner world or not. When other competitors at these track meets felt lack-luster not only did I stay in the zone–but I kicked it up a notch. This gave me a distinct advantage over all the other runners/jumpers. I relate this directly with my personal growth as well. Use days like these for transformational growth, and when it passes you’ll be glad you did.
Here is a list of what I’m currently reading
3. Workout
Nothing will energize you more than a solid workout. I usually keep my workouts around 45 minutes and don’t even use weights. The best part about this is that you don’t need anything to get started! You can literally drop and start doing pushups and sit-ups and feel energized. How great does it feel once you’re finished with a nice workout? Now imagine how great you’ll feel knowing you got up and did something 95% of people did not do on their snow day.
4. Spring clean
Why wait until its beautiful out to organize your life? I find it helps me to categorize items in labeled storage containers. They’re >$10 from a Walmart or Target and they save me so much time when I’m looking for something in particular. Not only that, for someone who moves around a lot like me they especially help to keep my life in order.
5. Meditate
I can’t stress the importance of meditation enough. Before a few months ago I had never meditated before in my life. Today its become an integral part of my daily ritual. Meditation has provided so many benefits to me throughout my transformation as an entrepreneur and business owner. I get my best work done when I’m only concentrating on one thing, and I’m not worried about whats going on in my outer world. Meditation has helped me to let go of all my stress and enable me to be more present. I’ve also found just 15 minutes of meditation feels like a 2 hour nap to me. I come out feeling refreshed and ready to conquer whatever challenge faces me.
One of the iOS apps I enjoy using is Simply Being.
6. Watch a movie (reward)
This one comes as a reward for following through with the previous 5 points. For everything good you do for yourself its important to reward yourself. Here are some great movies I’ve found I can watch over and over again.
7. Pray (for no more snow?)
Nothing is stronger than the power of prayer. If its something you really want, pray for it. I pray you all are staying warm and have plenty to eat and drink. The light is just up ahead.
